Based in Surrey, Decorative Effects perform a wide range of specialist decorating services. We have a team of highly skilled and experienced artists who are enthusiastic and ready to work on bespoke new builds, refurbishments and the restoration of high-end interiors in residential and commercial properties, both in the UK and abroad. We are also able to offer a full project management service if required - as well as executing the work to our very high standard, we will offer advice and direction through the planning, preparation and production stages of the project.

We are able to undertake large or small contracts, ranging from multi-room or whole property renovation through to tailor-made solutions for individual decorative items. Leading the core Decorative Effects team are Sarah Butt and Perry Lay, whose experience is outlined opposite.

Sarah Butt is an artist with a comprehensive portfolio of decorative paint finishes. These range from classical effects such as trompe l' oeil, gilding, marbling, dragging, stippling and colour washes, through to contemporary faux finishes such as weathered corten steel, antique bronzing and Venetian Stucco polished plaster. Sarah has worked in the specialist decorating trade since 2005, and founded Decorative Effects in 2008.

Perry Lay became a freelance artist in 2009, having worked for a prestigious London-based company for the previous twelve years. He is a highly qualified heritage skills painter, with a variety of industry accreditations. Perry also has more than five years experience as a site manager and regularly combines this role with his specialist artistic work with Decorative Effects.
